Earning a certificate in massage therapy enables you to enter the field of holistic healing. At Southern California University of Health Sciences, our massage therapy certificate program covers all of the subjects essential for a career as a massage therapist. Over the course of three trimesters, students receive extensive instruction in the practical, managerial, and medical aspects of massage therapy.
Massage Techniques
The fundamental subject in this program is massage techniques. Palpation, or the practice of examining a client with the hands in order to identify problem areas, is introduced in the first trimester. Students will receive instruction in Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, and trigger point therapy. Training in rehabilitation, sports massage, and orthopedic massage is also included in the program.
Biomechanics and Kinesiology
Extensive coursework in anatomy and physiology provides students with a solid understanding of the major systems of the human body.
